Tools & Supplies:
- Took measurements and purchased all of the right materials - wood trim, screws, Rustoleum primer and paint
- Built a box base fit to size for each side of the fireplace.
- Built custom cabinets and secure on top of box base and to studs in wall.
- Built bookshelves up to height of the fireplace mantle. Left a gap on one side for all wires and cables running from cabinets to mounted TV.
- Added trim pieces and secure to cabinets/bookshelves/fireplace. The trim covered any gaps or rough edges we had.
- Sanded and prepped all surfaces for painting.
- Painted all surfaces with Zinsser Smart Prime, especially the dark fireplace area.
- Painted all surfaces with final white Rustoleum paint colour for the finishing touch.
